EXCERPTS FROM UPCOMING BOOK 2

David Robert Loblaw Dave Loblaw David Loblaw
Prologue to Book Two

I think I made a mistake. I may have jumped ahead too much at the conclusion of Book One. It ended with me dead — and in Heaven.

I need to back up a bit to give more details on how I got there. This second book will zip back a little bit, then start to fill in the blanks.

The first section I call HELL as it’s all about my teen years in the 1970s. There are a few funny stories in there, but not many. Most are awful. Having cysts on my face is more than your normal teen acne story. If I had gone to high school with the singer Seal, he would have said, “Geez, what’s up with your face?”

The middle section is my brief PURGATORY — me doing nothing, day after day, ennui to the extreme. It’s 1978, 1979, I’m out of high school, out of friends, out of control. Nearly drowning my baby niece in the ice-cold Yukon River in my sister’s car is strangely the start of everything wonderful that’s about to happen.

The final section, HEAVEN, starts the moment I step into the University of Regina on my first day as a Fine Arts student. I instantly know these are my people. This is where I belong. I sever everything about my white trash past. (Still doing stupid things with alcohol and cars, but now as an elite intellectual.)
